The Makers is a radio piece about the crossovers of arts and craft whose protagonists are providing an insight into their work, their everyday life and their individual life philosophy which is all connected somehow. It's a piece about the magnetism of a mysterious place, a poetic road trip through the workshops of a city searching for the utopia of a self-determined life. From the off we hear the voice of Walter Gropius who reminds us of the basic ideas and the cultural heritage of the Bauhaus movement: What's left nowadays and which potentials are still out there – can a maker space be considered as a contemporary form of the historic Bauhaus studios, a democratic think tank of the future?
